Anonymous asks: Hi, Maddie! I'm a vegan in high school and researching colleges. Your blog popped up when searching for vegan options at Northeastern. Do you think Northeastern is vegan friendly? How hard is it to find healthy & vegan options? Thanks! :)

Northeastern has a ton of vegan options! It’s one of the many, many reasons I love this school. For example tonight I had stir fry (you get to choose all of your ingredients) with tons of veggies and tofu, they’ll even make it in a separate pan for you instead of the grill where the other stir fry’s have meat. Plus everything is labeled vegan or vegetarian, so that way you know if a sauce has milk or butter added or anything like that.

We have three dining halls, and all of them have good salad bars. One has a separate vegan room, with lots of entrees that change daily (like tofu ravioli, chili, BBQ tempeh, sweet potatoes, lentil stew, banana muffins etc.) but also dishes that are there every day, so you have some idea of what to expect. Another one has a vegan station, always with veggie burgers and falafel, but also other entrees that change daily. The third is the stir fry that one I went to tonight.

So I think it’s really easy to find healthy, vegan options. Each dining hall has soy milk, and two of them have rice milk. One actually just added vegan butter spread to the condiments section. And occasionally they’ll make veggie pizza without cheese too.

Good luck with applying to colleges, and I hope this helped!
